Gordon Merritt

Gordon, age 74, passed away at home after an unusually rapid case of ALS. He was a lifelong resident of the Ballard/Greenwood area of Seattle, graduated from Ballard High in 1966 and UW in 1970. Was a social worker with DSHS for 34 years. He spent years involved in Boy Scout Troops 100 and 125, and volunteering at his church feeding the hungry. He truly lived a life of service to others. Some of his favorite pastimes were reading, genealogy, travel, and hiking throughout the Pacific Northwest. He is survived by his wife Carolyn, children Tim and Rachel Brown (Aidin), grandchildren Jensen and Magnolia, his sister Joanne Ostby (Gary) and extended family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to WPPC or to an organization which helps others. A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 on Saturday April 23 at Woodland Park Presbyterian Church where he was a lifelong member. Masks required. 225 N 70th St, Seattle, WA
