Pamela Engholm
"It is with a very heavy heart that I announce the loss of the "love of my life." Pam was and will be the sweetest person I have ever known."-Ed
Pam passed away in her home with her husband of 51 years by her side. She is preceded in death by her parents Lorraine and Carl, her niece Meggan, brother in law, Jon, her uncle Dave, her best friend, Carol and many of her father's brothers and sisters. Pam is survived by her husband, Ed, her sisters, Carlie, Wendy (Tom), daughter, Kristi (Kevin), son, Jay, (Erin), granddaughters, Emma, Nicole and Elsa, and many cherished brother in laws, sister in laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pam was born in Seattle and was raised in Ballard. She was an excellent student at Adams elementary school, James Monroe middle school and was a member of the honor society at Ballard high school where she graduated in 1966. She always told us how she grew up with loving parents who taught her the importance of going to church and making family a priority. She attended Everett Community college and it was here where she met her beloved husband, Ed. She always said it was love at first sight. During her working years, Pam worked as a secretary for Boeing in Renton and in Everett. She also worked as a secretary for the UW CDMRC (Child Developmental Center).
Pam and Ed were married August 15, 1970. They raised their two children in Ballard. During these years, they enjoyed taking family vacations to Ed's family beach house in Longbranch, WA, many national parks, Disneyland and the Hawaiian Islands. Pam loved being a stay-at-home mom and was an active PTA member. She was known to have all the neighborhood children over in the summer for popsicles and swimming on the back deck. Pam worked part time as a secretary for Birth and Life Bookstore and Campfire where she met many treasured friends. Pam and Ed were also very involved in Northminster Presbyterian church where they served in many areas and made lifelong friendships.
Pam loved to travel and went to Europe after high school with her best friend, Linda. Other favorite travel adventures that Pam enjoyed were to Arizona, Colorado, Oregon and Florida with family and friends. Out of all the places she visited though, Hawaii was always the favorite. Pam was an excellent seamstress and loved being in quilting and sewing clubs. She especially enjoyed making dresses and doll clothes for her grandchildren. Pam created beautiful quilts that will be treasured by her family. She was also known for her impeccable French braiding skills and even did this for school carnivals! She was also an active member of Seattle Children's hospital guild and helped at their auctions for many years.
Pam treasured her years as a "Grammy." She loved taking the grandkids to the Argosy Christmas ship, the Woodland Park zoo, the Ballard locks and on many other local adventures.
Pam was also known for her delicious cooking. She especially enjoyed making traditional foods from her father's Swedish heritage-Iefse, Krumkake and Swedish meatballs. She was most known for her chocolate pie known as "Mama Humphreys" chocolate pie.
Pam was a selfless, patient, loving person who was known for being an exceptional listener who always made time for family. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
The family will have a Celebration of Life service for Pam on Saturday, August 13, 2022 from 1 p.m to 3 p.m. at North Creek Presbyterian church 621 164 ST SE Millcreek, WA.
