Carolyn Cooke

Carolyn Cooke

Carolyn and I were friends throughout high school.  I don't remember when she arrived in Seattle from Vancouver Island, but we became fast friends, and she was unique, with her slightly British accent which made all her off-color exclamations seem somehow genteel and funnier for it.  She was a good student always, and adventurous intellectually and otherwise.  I studied in México and spent 7 years there in the 70's, while Carolyn was off to Boston, and we lost touch during those years.  When I returned to Seattle I ran into her at the Blue Moon, and we were friends until her death in 2001.  We shared a love for the arts.  I will ever miss hearing Its Carolyn! (she always spoke in exclamations) on the phone when she called.....and knew I was in for a fun conversation. Miss our trips to SAM and gallery openings and the ballet.  She was part of the committee to amass an amazing collection of Northwest art hanging in Ballard High School, and one of the paintings was purchased as a memorial to Carolyn.
