Joan Louise (Anderson) ROCHELEAU Feb 4, 1948 ~ Dec 12, 2011 Joan, a mother of three, a lover of Nature, she was most comfortable out of doors. She enjoyed walking, gardening and reading. She acquired many friends over the years through work, neighborhoods, schools and clubs. Nothing was more precious to her than her family and grandchildren. Laughter was her companion. Friends and family are invited to a celebration of Joan's life, scheduled for 1pm, Saturday, Dec 31st at Sand Point Community United Methodist Church, 4710 NE 70th St, Seattle, WA98115

The word used over and over to describe Joannie at her memorial service was "lovely." She was also gracious, gentle, and courageous. I miss her clarity, her vibrancy, and the joyful sound of her laughter: hers was a dear and cherished friendship dating back to our childhood. I know my life has been blessed to have known her. Hello Everyone,Just wanted to drop everyone a note regarding Joan\'s funeral service.  It was very very nice and well attended.  Many friends and family spoke about Joan and at times had the audience laughing and laughing.   Her boss from Virginia Mason started it all by telling us what exactly Joan\'s job was at the hospital.  I had no idea how stressful and delicate her work was.  She interviewed and tested patients with  brain damage and reported back to the doctor who decided how to treat the patient largely due to Joan\'s test results and intuition.  He said that many patients told him to thank the test lady for helping them get through the 6 hours of testing.  First thing I thought of was  - it sure takes a special person to be able to do this kind of work - and Joan was that special.  She helped many many people get through a difficult time in their lives.  And all this while she was going through the most difficult time of her own life.   Love was shown by the stories told of the times spent with Joan and her family.  Early growing up in Ballard to when her kids were little and on to working and being a grandma.  One story I want to share with you that was so funny.  Apparently when her son was very small he got into everything and messed up the house and Joan had a hard time getting things done.  When it came to vacuming she was always worried that because she couldn\'t hear what he was doing that he might hurt himself.  So she resolved that problem....  She put him in a backpack on her back when she vacummed!!!  Can\'t you just picture it???  We all laughed very loudly after hearing that.. There were quite a few Ballardites in attendance and a wonderful reception afterwards where people could have a bite to eat and visit.  It was a very nice send off for Joan.  We will all miss our wonderful girlfriend. Karen
