Married 1966, went to live on husband's family's ranch south of Dallas TX same year. Lived 10 years each in Dallas, Arizona and Hawaii,  Now back near Dallas and moving to Spokane WA to live near our daughter so returning almost full circle. Retired from social work and politics, and husband's a commercial construction superintendent. We have 3 children, 7 grands and one precious great-grandchild, Baby June. Celebrated our wonderful 50th anniversary this year as well. Thank you so much for all the effort on Ballard HS reunions. Other commitments have kept us from them but they are greatly appreciated!

I've lived in Port Angeles for twenty-five years and love retirement.  I'm a member of the Klahhane Hiking Club, now in its 101st year.  I've enjoyed traveling the world, and our country, but there is a lot more to see, so i hope I have a few more years to explore.   Nothing beats coming home to beautiful Port Angeles and my cats, though.  Take a hike!

I hope to be able to attend the reunion, but unlike many of you who are retired I am still working full time flying helicopters on forest fires. The reunions are always in the summer when I am really busy, so I haven't been able to get to a reunion since the 10th one. I am hoping to be able to get up there for the evening between two scheduled jobs if the fire situation isn't too bad. Hope to see some friends that I haven't seen for a long time. I currently live in Missoula Montana but my work takes me all over, mostly in the Western states, but I was on fires from Florida to Alaska a couple years ago.

After seein Rick's hydro project I was inspired to share a poem I wrote when I was employed by the city of Lake Forest Park

No way to treat a Lady.

Behind a house in The City of Kenmore, Washington, in a field of grass,
sits an old hydroplane, long forgotten.
If you listen closely, you can hear her wail away.
Many years have passed sense I was a young lady.
A Miss. A young Miss. that use to fly across the calm or choppy bodies of water,
chasing and being chased by other ladies.
Misses like myself.
Now I sit on a rusting black trailer in a field of grass. I sit forgotten.

This is no way to treat a lady!

My once bright colors could be seen from afar, flashing, flashing in the afternoon sun.
Children cheered as they watched me fly by on the deep blue waters, or laughed with joy as I passed them in the local parades.
Some children, boys mostly made copies of me out of wooden crates
and towed me behind their bikes as they raced around the city streets.
Now my colors are faded. Washed away by years of snow and rain,
or bleached by the summer sun
My colors are only the gray of weathered wood
or what has remained of the primer paint.
Now I sit and wait on a rusting black trailer in a field of grass. I sit forgotten.

This is no way to treat a lady.

In years past, my heart beat loud. The V-12 roared like an angered lioness.
Big pistons gulping high-octane fuel and belching fire from the exhaust stacks.

As I rounded the turns, Nitrous was added, I felt that I could almost fly out of the deep blue waters.
Now my heart is gone. The V-12 stolen from me.
I no longer belch out smoke and fire.
Gone too is the bright cowling that covered that cast iron heart.
Now, only the rusted mounts remain.
Now I sit here forgotten on this rusting black trailer in a field of grass. I sit. I wait. I hope.

This is no way to treat a lady.

Gone too the mahogany deck that covered my ribs.
Gone is my tail fin, that shown like a flag and kept me flying straight.
Straight across the bright blue waters.
All that is left of me are my ribs, bleached white like a skeleton in a desert sun.
Gone is my name. I am now Miss. Nobody.
No one remembers my name,
and with the passing of many years,
I too have forgotten it.
Now I sit here on this rusting black trailer in a field of grass. I hope and I cry.

This is no way to treat a lady.

The days pass slowly. Day in. Day out. Year in. Year out.
Time drags on.
The fall rains and the winter’s snows.
Spring showers and burning summer sun.
I am captive to the environment as I sit and wait on this rusting black trailer in a field of grass.
I sit. I wait. I cry.
Does anyone care?

This is no way to treat a lady.

O’ how I long for a funeral.
A proper and decent funeral as I am beyond all hope of repair.
I fear though that my remains will be eventually tossed in a dump,
with tons of rotting garbage piled on top of me.
O’ how I wish for a Vikings Funeral. My remains set a blaze and I slowly settle to the bottom of the bright blue waters on which I flew.
But here I set on this rusting black trailer in a field of grass with only my memories.

This truly is no way to treat a lady.

I miss the old hydroplanes. O'well, tis sad the days that are no more.

I do look forward to get away from Anaconda, Mt. and make the reunion
God Bless, Ted

I attend the 40th reunion and will try and attend this upcoming 50th.  Looking forward to seeing people I don't see often at all, and recognizing (hopefully) most of those.  We are still living in Selah, Washington and still have one child (Hmm 23 seems old for a child) out of the seven kids living at home.  Number of grandkids has expanded to 14.
